FUSE | PERILOUS
June 1 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
The Machine Shop is proud to present FUSE | PERILOUS, an exhibition featuring a collection of new and old works by veteran Graffiti Artist FuseOne AWR originally from Los Angeles. The show will feature Fuse’s Graffiti Glass along with several custom Graffiti Furniture pieces. Nicknamed The Living Room Vandal, Fuse has combined intriguing, rugged, street art with everyday functional furnishings as a unique way to introduce vibrant, original art into your home or work space.
Fuse’s Graffiti Glass has become a signature art form for him. Its process is both exciting and dangerous – which speaks directly to the creative soul of this street artist. “Graffiti art for most is an adrenaline seeking pastime as much as it is an artistic endeavor – I’m still in love with the rush and I seek art processes that will fulfill that desire,” says Fuse. With every glass piece there’s an element of surprise – never predicting what the final product will look like, Fuse is enticed to create more and test the boundaries. The pieces are designed with hard, salvaged, industrial materials such as wood, glass, paint, and metal but through the multi-step art process it ultimately reveals a soft and organic feeling.
Local favorite, DJ Craftmatic will provide live music at the show. And food truck Bison Brothers Food Truck will be on hand serving up their delish sliders.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Urban artist Fuse, originally from Los Angeles, has been studying, creating, and collecting graffiti art for nearly 30 years. Inspired by the pioneers of graffiti in the early 80’s, Fuse began tagging and bombing at an early age making a name for himself. He eventually helped form one of the most influential graffiti crews in the world, AWR (The Seventh Letter.)
Fuse has taught urban art curriculum to young artists through the Bemis Art School, Cottonwood Center for the Arts, Cheyenne Mountain School District 12, and the YMCA. He exhibited at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center along with internationally acclaimed graffiti artists El Mac and Retna in a show titled “Aerosol Exalted” which ran from October 2015 – January 2016. According to the Colorado Springs Independent the show was a huge success, and “marked a milestone in the FAC’s programming, elevating street art and urban culture to a fine arts setting.” Recent art projects: collaborative mural “The Saint Floyd” on the Manitou Arts Center, collaborative urban art show in Los Angeles’ The Machine Studio, and multiple commissioned murals for local software companies and restaurants.
Knowing that art is at the heart of every strong culture, Fuse is determined to bring more of it to Colorado Springs. “Even though it’s made recent strides in developing its ‘artscape’, Colorado Springs’ art scene is ready to be brought to a new level” says the artist, “through connections and relationships with globally renowned street artists, built over the past 30 years, I’m hoping to be forefront in helping change that.”
Outside of graffiti, Fuse is an inventor, interior designer, business owner, husband and father. He lives and thrives in Colorado Springs, Colorado. For photos and images of his art work please check out www.fuseoneart.com.
“Graffiti art is about bringing beauty, color, and life to otherwise ordinary, mundane, and forgotten places.”
