Meet local artists, Chris Alvarez, Jana Bussanich and Laurel Justice during First Friday at the Machine Shop on July 7, 2017, 6-9pm. Enjoy urban and pastoral close-up and outdoor long shots of paintings, in a variety of styles, depicting the Pikes Peak Region by 3 artists, in 3 mediums from 3 perspectives. Chris, Jana and Laurel have private studios in Old Colorado City at The Second Floor Studios, home of the Alvarez Art School, Jana Bussanich Art & Instruction and Laurel Justice, Artist, Consultant and Psychotherapist.

Also enjoy live music by Audrey Bussanich.

More about the artists:

Chris Alvarez is the director of the Alvarez Art School, in Old Colorado City, where he helps artists and “non-artists” of all ages learn to see and express in new ways through a variety of classes and workshops. He is a well-known regional oil painter, who finds interest and beauty in unlikely places. Chris enjoys trail running, birding, juggling and collecting vinyl records. Married, Chris is the father of two elfin children who remind him to pay attention, be present and notice the beauty in everyday moments.

Jana Bussanich works in watercolor, oil, charcoal and photography. She provides creative design and management services for private, commercial and public art. Her most recent project of note is her photography at Blue Dot Place and the public art on the exterior of the building. She teaches watercolor technique and color theory at her private studio in Old Colorado City. Jana enjoys hiking, time with family and traveling. She looks forward to a 2 week artist residency in September 2017 at Castle in Orquevaux, Champagne-Ardenne, France.
Laurel Justice works as a psychotherapist, artist and consultant. She has served on the Public Art Commission, Pikes Peak Arts Council and the Arts Committee at Memorial Hospital. She curates digital art experiences for organizations in New York and London, and is the producer of a local film project called Stranger Moments. Painting with soft pastels, Laurel creates abstracts often described as mysterious, whimsical and topographical. Her commissions hail from coast to coast. Married to Steve for 30 years, she is a gigantic fan of their 4 children, travel, and afternoon lattes.

The event is finished.
