Prêt-à-Porter | Collection: Color-blocking, the After Show
The Machine Shop is proud to present Prêt-à-Porter | Collection: Color-blocking the After Show. Please join us June 7th, from 6-9 pm for a one night opening.
“Prêt-à-Porter | Collection: Color-blocking the After-Show” is an exhibition of a selection of garments made for the IIDA RMC Prêt-à-Porter Where Finish Meets Fashion Show 2019 and worn on the runway during the event on May 17th. Colorado based design teams, paired with an industry manufacturer, have created handmade garments utilizing the sponsor manufacturers available materials to align with one of the Color-blocking Collections; Collection 1: Soft | Muted | Neutral, or Collection 2: Bold | Bright. Prêt-a-porter has become Colorado’s main stage event for the culmination of architecture, design, and inspiring haute couture.
The theme for 2019 is Collection: Color-blocking. This is intended as framework to encourage teams to think with a fashion forward approach, in both design and use of materials.
Color-blocking has taken many forms in fashion over the years. Designs reflect a modern approach and interpretation. Teams drew inspiration from various eras of fashion or explore schemes from color theory. Teams have been aligned under two Color-blocking Collections which will create a distinct visual element for the show.
Collection 1: Soft | Muted | Neutral
Collection 2: Bold | Bright
Within these collections, teams were challenged to consider various color schemes: Monochromatic, Analogous, Complementary, Split Complementary, Tetradic, etc. Additional layers, textures, patterns, and creative craft were showcased on the runway. Garments were judged on wearability, craftsmanship, use of manufacturer’s materials, creativity, and model presence on the runway.
